Our journey back to the motherland – the sunny Italy of the Phoenicians, Greeks, Arabs and Normans – begins with Bergamot, because this citrus fruit, halfway between lemon and bitter orange, is the princess of perfumery and is present in many of the most successful formulas today.

A princess who, however, due to her volatility, had never been honoured as she deserved. So we returned to the extraction, following its ancient traditions. With a curved knife, the pulp is removed, leaving only the peel; this is what is called a “Bergamot sponge”. It is then squeezed in circular movements on a natural sponge to collect the essence. The fruity base with delicate floral notes of Jasmine of our Bergamotto di Calabria fragrance is therefore a return to the past. Its stimulating freshness, with a distinctly contemporary flavour, comes instead from some exotic touches and from a long work with Bergamot, to make it more persistent and energetic.
